I cannot wait for the farmer's market to begin. I have plans this summer to actually eat things that don't come out of the box or can; or totally rely on HOW to sustain my being. I have only been to a farmer's market a couple of times in my life, but I'm excited to take a nice early morning walk with my little tote bag over my shoulder, perhaps letting my SLR tagalong just in case.

But until I can enjoy my fresh peas, radishes, corn, and cilantro; I will sit here eating my breakfast of on-sale Easter M & M's and watch this movie called "The Open Road" with Jeff Bridges and the one and only Justin Timberlake. A dysfunctional father-son story; JT has to find his father who left his family and bring him back home on the wishes of his mother and they go on this soul-searching, bonding, road trip...or something like that. Not important.

As a long time lover of JT, I am simply astounded by how young he looks in movies/television as opposed to his musical side. This movie started filming in 2008, AFTER his album FutureSex/LoveSounds.

2008

2006

Really? What happened here? It's like Justin has some Disney complex and must maintain his squeaky clean look on tv. Aw well, I'll take him on my ipod over dvd any day....as well as those pictures [circa 2006].

That's it for today folks. I think I'm gonna go whip something up a little more sufficient than a handful of candy. I'm still on my goat cheese kick, so I may make something with that. Enjoy the beautiful day while rocking out to JT!

edit: I really wish I had a [digital] camera. I am currently eating scrambled eggs with bacon, mixed greens, tomatoes, and the ingredient of the week, goat cheese.

I reckon there goes another tumbleweed.

Two thoughts on tumbleweeds. No, three.

One: "tumbleweed" is such a fun word. It demands attention and participation from your whole mouth, the first two syllables literally roll up and form from the tip of your tongue, to your lips, and reverberates to the back of your tongue just to be quickly pushed back out again. but the "weed" aspect is kind of bouncy, unlike in the context of the ganja; which comes out hard and flat.

Two: I still get weirded out when I see tumbleweeds roll across the roads (particularly 280). I sometimes forget that we are indeed in the midwest...until I also see a tractor sputter by in the bike lane of a semi-busy suburban street.

Three: Going back to the original intention of this post. A friend of mine on Monday enlightened me about the Minneapolis/St. Paul gay communities. He told me, "lesbians live in St. Paul, and gay men live in Minneapolis". I guess this is supposed to be common knowledge, but it does make sense. I'll give you a second to think about it........total sense. Unless you're an older generation lesbian (insert obligatory ipod joke), or a hipster-uptown dyke.

Regardless, tonight Tegan and Sara are playing at the Orpheum. What does this mean? Coffee shops, bookstores and clubs, bars/clubs (for a while at least), and many other gay hangouts are going to be abandoned and forgotten for the evening. Hundreds of lesbians with gay male friends in tow will be flocking to see our favorite musical twins.

I refuse to let a river divide me and those gay boys and snobby hipsters, but I am willing to put our locale preference differences aside (among other things) in the name of good music. So everyone enjoy this wonderful day, put on T and S if you have them in your library, and if you happen to be a breeder, go out and enjoy yourself without us pesky gays getting in your way ;)

Here I Go Again

In the immortal words of Whitesnake.

Although the song came before my time, I have vivid memories of watching a close up of Coverdale's (definitely had to look that up!) face on my t.v. during those TimeLife greatest hits of the 80's infomercials between old episodes of I Love Lucy and Cher's fishnet stockings.

I don't know what it is, but the summer always makes me feel nostalgic. I make mixes of music from past seasons, I use old jokes as crutches, I break out the old yearbooks, and yearn to get lost in downtown Minneapolis and try to find my way back home----Well, I still have no sense of direction, but Mpls isn't nearly as big as it seemed to be; which makes me simultaneously bummed and relieved. I don't waste a whole lotta gas, but I am glad to be still blown away by the magic of the skylines at night.

We'll see how this goes...for me, blogging is just like Twitter, Netflix, and Lady Gaga; I am always late on the bandwagon, but eventually I get there.
